Ingredients: Bentonite Clay:

Bentonite clay is the OG skin saver. Used to achieve pore-tingling clarity, Bentonite clay is a mixture of volcanic ash and sediment that’s been used since the dawn of the skincare age to kill harmful toxins, bad bacteria, and stop oil in its tracks.

Activated Charcoal:

When charcoal meets oxygen, skin calms, clears, and detoxes. Activated charcoal erases the gunky stuff like dirt, pollution, and everyday grime to bring skin back to its natural balance. Combined with bentonite clay, activated charcoal also brings blood to the surface of your skin -- revealing rosy, youthful skin.

Hibiscus Flowers:

With so many power players in this mask, hibiscus flowers keep everything in balance. Picked and sourced with your beautiful skin in mind, hibiscus calms and nourishes your skin while maintaining elasticity. Which means faster healing, improved collagen production, and smoother skin.

Directions for use: The Hula Way: A spoonful mixed with your Raw Honey Face Wash + Mask and a little water for consistency. Let sit 5-20 minutes. Rinse well.

But Also Good: All by itself mixed with equal parts water and apple cider vinegar.

Is Charcoal good for oily skin?

Charcoal is very good for oily skin to clear congested pores, but it's not recommended to use more than 1-3 times per week. Mix it with water or Honey.

Is Charcoal good for dry skin?

Charcoal is helpful for acne-prone dry skin types, but shouldn't be used more than once per week, or once every other week. It is gentler mixed with Honey. Listen to your skin 🙂

How do I use Charcoal as a face mask?

Simply leave the mix on a bit longer.

How do I use Charcoal to exfoliate?

Like any cleansing grain, take a spoonful of Charcoal in the palm of your hand with a sprinkle of water to form a paste. Add Honey Face Wash + Mask, if desired. Scrub gently over face for a minute or two. Let it sit for longer for a bonus face mask. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.

How do I use Charcoal as a spot treatment?

You don’t always need an intense full-face mask. Use Charcoal on acne by applying a little dab and leave on for as long you want. Remove Charcoal gently before applying other products.

Optional: Mix Charcoal with Honey.

Quick tip: Remove a very small amount of powder from the pouch with a dry toothpick or skinny end of bamboo spoon. Place in palm. Use damp finger to wet spot, then use damp finger to dip in the dry powder and apply.

How long will a Charcoal pouch last?

Typical use is one bamboo spoonful, mixed with Honey Face Wash + Mask, 1-2 times per week. **Keep dry between uses**

  • 1 oz pouch will last 6+ uses (3-6 weeks)
  • 2 oz pouch will last 12+ uses (6-12 weeks)

While the added hibiscus is soothing and hydrating, Charcoal is formulated for maximum detox with the least amount of effort. Using more often than twice per week is not recommended. Please listen to your skin 💛

How do I compost my Charcoal paper pouch?
  • If you have a healthy compost pile, toss it in.
  • If your city picks up compost, toss it in.
  • Or, it can go in the recycling bin.
The ingredients are simple. Can I make this at home?

Yes, yes you can!

By deciding to manufacture our products more like a food company would, rather than "Mass Brand Skincare Co.", we're able to price our Mix-ins low. We hope you'll give them a try, but if you prefer to DIY a little harder then feel free to mix it yourself:

  • Bentonite Clay (this clay is actually edible... and great for brushing teeth in a pinch)
  • Activated Charcoal (not too much!)
  • Hibiscus Flowers (powdered)
